The automatic adjusters can back out when the throttle is closed suddenly at high RPM, allowing the cams to go momentarily out of time, which may result in bent valves or serious engine damage. Hydraulic tensioners can apply excessive tension on the chain guide under high RPM and high oil pressure conditions, leading to premature wear. Both issues can be eliminated with the installation of a manual tensioner. Regardless of engine operation, cam chain tension remains constant. A manual cam chain tensioner is recommended for performance riding applications. Manual tensioners are CNC machined from billet alloy to exact tolerances for precise fit and reliable performance.
